Shatner doesn't fit in Star Trek XI

No one watched any of those shows for the set or the "story". The "Gates" are along the same line ..and employ the same "comedy" components in varying degrees. Once you get past the cheap sets and the "this all will be solved in 43.X minutes thing, they can be entertaining.

It all requires, as they say, "a suspension of reasonable belief" for it to "work". The cheap props fade into the static background ..etc..etc.

LEXX worked very well for me for a few seasons. It's a shame that they ran out of money.

One of my favorite scenes was where a bunch of planet eating machines were observed by a manned orbiting weather station where the one fellow was about to give the forecast for the day. He says (something like) "Well, it doesn't look like it's going to be a good day..".

Xena's blond sidekick was pretty cute, though.

"Xena" actually worked better for me -- in its dramatic episodes, when they focused on Xena's quest for redemption -- than "Hercules" did. It was cool, though, that Sam Raimi actually researched the ancient Greek stories, used the gods' and heroes' Greek names (except for Hercules himself -- but how many people would know the name "Heracles"?), and cast everybody so well. Ares, Aphrodite, and Discord especially. And Lucy Lawless's performance was always top-notch.

Yeah, they played fast and loose with history, having Julius Caesar contemporary with Jason and his Argonauts, or whatever. But again, great casting really carried it.

Very true. What happened to her character? I missed a few episodes...

And that's what I meant by great casting. If they'd swapped the actresses, casting the Callisto actress as Aphrodite and vice versa, it wouldn't have worked.

You can really believe the girl in the top picture as Aphrodite, Goddess of Love (and that the other as a psycho!).

She ate forbidden fruit (in terms of knowledge) and was "boxed". Never to regenerate again. All in due time, I suppose. We've not seen the end of the wicked witch of BSG.

I mean ...tell me you haven't wanted this as your significant other?? I mean ..no one's perfect. We've all had to deal with a few oddities here and there. I think you have to look at her humanity ...errr...mutantity and see that heart that surely beats molten lead before rejecting someone.

Indeed. She has to have the dark hair though. Saw some pics of her as a blonde...not as nice.

Good reasons to watch BSG:
