The geniuses who inhabit my apartment complex have walked off with the selector pins for the Precor weight training machine I use. Miss Linda found this: https://www.sportsmith.net/itemform.aspx?item=P16P1305&ReturnUrl=/productsearch.aspx?dsNav=Ro%3a24%2cN%3a40015&dsDimSearch=Dxp%3a5 It looks like it would be great -- I could just put them in my gym bag, use them during my workout, and take them home when I finish. Since it would take a while for me to receive these (and their help chat person estimates it might require some $8-12 in shipping!), would Home Depot or Lowe's have anything like this? The 5/16" matches the holes in the weight plates, but I think the pin has to be fairly long. On Home Depot's site, smooth bolts with that diameter seem to be only 1" or 2" long. Any ideas?

I guess you might have people accusing you of stealing the pins if they see you putting your own pins in your gym bag when you are done working out!

It might help to search for carriage bolts in particular, I know I bought some pretty long ones in roughly that diameter at HD for my garage door after I trashed it up good.

Those look good, except I suspect the rifling on them might interfere. The smooth ones are good, but they come in bags of 50!

I work out early. When I'm at the gym, man, nobody is around.

in our gym some of the equipment uses valves (from a car). The valve stems fit in there nicely and if you have some extra laying around go for it.

I would, if I had the room at home for my own set of weights!

We would, if Mr. Waverly wasn't so cheap.

Went to Academy Sports and ****'s sporting Goods, just to be thorough. They don't carry any size of pins.

Bought 3 5/16" x 4" bolts at Home Depot. They slide in fine -- they are a bit loose -- and hold the plates. I may get a few 3/8" to be on the safe side, see if they will fit more firmly, though I doubt that lifting will shake the 5/16" ones loose. $5.21 and done!
