wind chill will take your heat soak, so if you stop for half an hour and come back it's practically a cold start again if it's windy... not so much if it isn't.

Otherwise it has no effect. If you stop for shorter or longer it doesn't really matter either way.

Fuel dilution is a good thing to study on the UOA and VOA boards.

That's one issue I contend with is that my one vehicle is driven 2 miles, shut off, then started again and driven back home during the winter months. In this scenario, I see a synthetic being of some benefit, would you agree?

The only benefit you'll see from synthetics is great cold cranking vs simply good. It'll still get "poisoned" by gas and moisture, winter is tough. I just picked up some valvoline syn for cheaper than the price of walmart dino thanks to the "rebates and promotions" section of this board. I can run this in the winter and change it often and come out way ahead.

If you look through the VOA/UOA sections at TBN, you'll find some synthetics with lots of extended reserve and some that are merely adequate.

Well, I don't know where you get all those rebates, there are none like that in my area. But I suppose a guy could run Supertech Synthetic as it is only 13-15 bucks per/5qt jug. A guy could get good great cold cranking startup with something like that in the winter monts.. Or a guy could just run conventional and know that "good" is good enough. I guess the motor will still outlast the chassi. I do apreciate the advice and opinions here.
