seat belt issues

so on my passenger side back seat on the saturn the sear belt is having trouble retracting. it gets used a lot by my son but last night i noticed it wouldnt roll back up? is there anything i can do about that?

Have him sit on the other side.

Replace it new or junk yard new! It won't last for long before it poops out.

he is sitting on the other side but i would still like to fix it

It's usually because the belt doesn't retract straight on the roller and it binds up, or the mechanism that turns needs some lube because it's getting dry with age.

I would not take apart a seat belt for safety reasons, go to a pull a part yard and pick one up for 3 dollars.

often something gets dropped into the mechanism and jams it. usually easily removed

Chevyboy, have you taken the unit out to look at the problem?

Don't try to take the unit apart. I believe the unit has a loaded spring that can hurt you.

i took it apart and lubed the sides and its working a lot better. she is just getting old lol
