What sealant do I use when I join the 2 Ford IB/5 transmission halves together? I am sure I saw what it is but can no longer find it on the web. Is there a Ford sealant for that?

The back cover uses a cork like gasket. What do I use for it?

The good news is that some fantastic options exist, from ThreeBond 1215 and ThreeBond 1184, to various Yamabond products, like Yamabond 3 and 4, and of course the "old school' anerobic Loctite products like 515 and 518. Along with Permatex ultra grey and "the right stuff", which is also superb.

Right stuff/RTV is the absolutely wrong sealant for this application. The transmission case halves that he is taking about (the gaskets BD cardinal shows are for the 5th gear housing) the bell housing half needs to be rigidly attached to the gear housing half which is why an anaerobic is called for there.

Threebond 1215 is RTV based, 1184 is acrylic adhesive. Both excellent. And needless to say, Threebond makes Yamabond, Hondabond, Kawabond, Suzukibond.

Meant to post the link to the chemicals site, but TA-16 is an anaerobic sealer.
