SeaFoam Pre-Oil Change Procedure Question

As part of an attempt to insure that I clean out as much junk in my engine prior to an oil change, do you folks see any problem with the following?

1. I'd like to remove my oil filter and reinstall a cheap one temp.
2. Since the lost volume of used oil will approach almost a quart, I'd like to refill with 16oz of SeaFoam in crank case.
3. Run motor on idle for 30 minutes to circulate the oil/solvent safely.
4. Shutdown, drain oil, remove cheap filter and let drain for 30 minutes...
5. Refill with new charge of oil and good oil filter. and be good to go.

Background: 1999 4.3L v-6 "W" s-10 blazer with 153,000 miles. The car has been owned since new and I have changed the oil (Pet-based) every 3000 since day-1....Burns no oil, doesn't even use any to speak of....no noise, knock, rattle etc...just want to clean out good so I can get any residual in there....then run the motor another 153K...hopefully....

Do you see any problem with above ?

Is there a better product other than seafoam ?

Run Fuel Power and Lube Control along with oil analysis to get best results.

If you want to, don't bother buying an extra filter. Just toss the Seafoam into the oil on a cold engine, run for 5-10 minutes, and do your regular oil/filter change.

You could also you a quart of kerosene, a quart of biodiesel, or any of the other pint/quart bottles of overpriced flush products.

Most people don't have good maintenance and would benefit from some type of flush or cleaning.
In your situation, I wouldn't bother.
No noise, no oil consumption........leads me to believe that you would be better off just continuing with the 3k ritual.

Some would say that the best thing to do is pull the valvecover and inspect. If there is no sludge and nothing but varnish, save your money.

Clean valve covers, etc, are all good. However, my most noticeable improvement from Auto-Rx has been cleaned rings, thus better compression.

YMMV, of course. (Mine has - it's higher now!

)

What were your before/after compression numbers vs OEM psi spec? Have you inspected the rings before/after the autorx to verify the cleaner rings?
