Any chance to buy #167 gear oil by the quart, or gallon? A five gallon pail is too much. I have a 2003 silvderado 2500 HD and would like to run #167 in the rear differential. The truck is schaeffers front to back, excepting the allison; I'm running three quarts of 9000 5w30 in the transfer case.
Please advise
Thank you

Ramrod, your best bet to contact Salesrep would be to either send him a PM or go direct to his website and email him. He might not see this thread.

I just went thru this finding #267 in quarts. From what I was told they do not make either one in quarts anymore. IIRC

I got lucky and found a few locally but will use something else next time so its Shaeffers loss I guess.

I bought the 38 pound pail and split it with a friend. I also installed a Mag-Hytec rear dif cover which increased my fluid capacity to 8 quarts. Find a friend and split the cost...

I gotta tell ya, there's nothing like having your rear end sitting in 2 gallons of synthetic gear lube...

Rob

FYI, I own a 2007 Chevy 2500HD LBZ Duramax/Allison CCSB truck and run Schaeffer's products nose to tail including 204SAT in the trans...

I'm pleased with Mag Hytecs on my Dodge....

167 smallest container is 38 lb. pail. 267 was replaced by our 293, which is available in qts. We also now have 75-90 str syn available in quarts. Cases are 12 qts.

Thanks for the info. I like the product but the large container was to much for my needs. Its good that some of the products are still available in quarts.

I think that #167 is the only full syn thst is avaiable with moly, which is what I need; I can't split five gal with anyone that I know close by. You would think that schaeffers could offer it at least by the gallon. They have the containers; not sure why a #167 sticker couldn't be put on it, and the price raised accordingly to cover expenses' Oh well. more and more oil suppliers are adding moly to their products and making them available in reasonable sized quanties. This subject is much discussed on other forums.
Thanks everyone for the comebacks

This is the reason I have Amsoil 75W110 in my diff. There is no way I could justify a pail of gear oil when my little 8.8 does not even take 3 quarts.

Huh? Do you mean non-soluble molybdenum disulfide? Soluble moly is in a bunch of things, including Schaeffer's 293 (in addition to the 167). If you want moly-disulfide (the black stuff), then you want 267, not 167.

#267 is a Blend that comes in various ISO viscosities and SAE 80W90, one of the best blends in the industry, while #167 is a full PAO synthetic and comes in SAE 75W140 and other ISO viscosities with plenty of moly DEDTP.

So, do you understand the difference and know what you want? If not, contact Salesrep who can help you choose the best Schaeffer fluid for your application. If you do know which, contact Salesrep to order the one you need.
