Schaeffer's 132 a good add?

It was once a Bitog darling. IIRC it was also mixed with LC20 to make "Molabrew." You can search that for more info. Used straight up it would be good in an oil burning beater.

I used the Molabrew for years and then both products just became too hard to find so now just oil goes in. Schaeffer products can be hard to come by and pricey. Did the brew work for me, will never know, no engine issues but that does not mean I would have had any without using it,. So, unless you have some issue to deal with I would say don's spend your money. 132 is a huge viscosity enhancer.

I found a couple people on eBay sell it for as little as 10 bucks a bottle.

I'm really just seeing if it will be a good add no deficiency. Always been the guy who over does it I guess.

I could really see it being needed for a hard working engine (motorhome, dually pickup).

I don't think the whole pint bottle per oil change is needed at all.

I admire your candor.ðŸ‘

That said I've always been one to believe that if the oil isn't doing it for ya', you're using the wrong oil. But I recognize that there may be situations where an addy might make some sense... and besides, it's your money and your engine and the 132 isn't going to grenade your engine, at least it shouldn't.. you can do whatever you want with it (as if you needed me to tell you that ...‚), the heck with the naysayers.

I say try it..try and eliminate as many variables as practical so you can arrive at a (somewhat) unvarnished opinion of the product and let us know how it goes.

(if the anti- additive faction on BITOG had their way, they'd prolly delete this sub forum all together I'd imagine)

Well, ya kinda left the topic wide open for us to ponder.

What is the application, what grade of oil is your engine speced to use, what are your expected driving conditions, how much will you be paying per bottle for the #132, is your engine in good shape, not smoking or burning oil?

Providing that kind of information can help us help you.

If you are asking for data on what it will do when mixed with your current engine oil? It will increase the viscosity (make it thicker). Then you have to ask yourself - do I really want to do that and put more horsepower into churning and moving a thicker oil when that extra horsepower could be used at the wheels?

In terms of additional additives? It has nothing in it your current oil doesn't have except for some SbDTC and probably not enough of that to make any real world difference.
