I just bought 7 cases of 7000 5w30 from Salesrep (very nice to do business with)to run in my wife's new Rogue. Yesterday I took a sample to send in for a VOA. This is a very interesting oil in appearance. Neat green/blue color and oil seems extremely thin at room temp. Will post VOA results as soon as I get them.

Planning on 7500 mile OCI'S in the Rogue, possibly longer, using Pure One filters.

As of a couple weeks ago, 4.06 per qt, including tax and free shipping (over 300.00). You would have to check to make sure the price hasn't changed.

Mr Smith was very prompt from getting back to me with a quote to shipping my order. Will do business with him again.

I like the idea of having a quantity of oil from the same batch that I can trend in my vehicle over a significant period of time.

7 cases for one vehicle???

What happens to all that oil - should you become displeased with the VOA? Wouldn't it of been better to sample - then buy 7 cases?

Who is performing the VOA?

Anyone who would judge an oil by a VOA alone needs to have their head examined. Not saying this is what's happening at all. I think the used oil analysis of the 7000 will be much more important.
Selling the 7000 for what was paid for it should not be a problem if the customer wanted to sell it. I think the 7000 will have a happy new home.

Most everyday, non trucker-folks I've talked to around my area never heard of Schaeffers. BITOG members know what a fine oil it is - but the typical Joe doesn't. It would likely take a good sales pitch to sell almost seven cases to anyone who hasn't ever heard of the brand.

I'm definately not one to judge any oil by a VOA, that is only to use as a baseline.

Definately didn't just blindly buy 7 cases of an oil I was totally unfamilar with. If this oil is a totally wrong fit for my Rogue, it would be the first vehicle I've seen that was.

I've done the change oil brand every OCI thing and this time I thought I'd pick a quality oil with good longer drain capability that seems to work in every vehicle you throw at it and stick with it. The 7000 fits the bill at a reasonable price.

I have no idea what a Rogue is, but I think you have the right idea about your approach to oil use. The VOA was a great idea for a baseline for future used oil analysis, if you continue to use the same lab throughout. You definitely jumped in with both feet by buying 7 cases. So, this will either turn out to be a brilliant decision, or a lot of oil changes for your lawnmower! Are the cases all the same batch number?

Anyways, I just started using #703 10W30 in my 2000 Tundra V-8. My first UOA from Dyson shows it to be a very competent oil for my application, but it did shear quite a bit. I did not expect this to happen. The oil did continue to perform well inspite of 1.46% fuel dilution.

Currently, I'm buying it by the case from a local distributor for $60. If all continues to go well, I will probably make a large order of #703 from Salesrep when I need some more #204SAT ATF. The #204SAT has been a transmission saver in my Tundra!

dont you think at 1.5% fuel it thinned the oil more than from shear?

seems to me anything more than .5% fuel and oils get thinner real fast.

I can't say for certain that the fuel thinned the oil, but it's one possibility. Terry Dyson said it sheared "by design", possibly to meet conservation specs?

Schaeffers has traditionally been an excellent oil in a fuel dilution scenario. Still performs well. Not all oils do.

That said, my 4.7 has not shown any fuel dilution. Make sure you have a clean air filter in there. Might also consider a fuel system cleaner. I run the FP60 through mine periodically.

For a typical Schaeffers prospect that buys 1k to 5 or 10k's worth of oil it generally takes some education and a sales pitch for them to buy Schaeffers fine products. For the educated connnesuers such as those found on bitog it takes very little of a sales pitch. Many everyday families will spend 3-6 hundred a year in oil, making a 300 purchase at once fits those.

Fuel dilution never showed up on Blackstone reports (although I suspected it), but sure did on my recent Dyson UOA. The tune levels are as high as I can get them, but I'm starting to think seriously about an Auto Rx treatment on my next OCI. This engine has seen lots of fuel system cleaners, both professional and in the can. I now only use MMO in the fuel to quiet the injectors. It doesn't seem to be as harmful to the bearings as the Techron was, but that's a different story altogether...

There's something unusual happening to have that much gas in that engine. I don't know if it's your driving conditions or a mechanical problem but it's abnormal. I'm sure the oil did thin out with that much gas in it.
The Schaeffer oils that I use have shown to thin some over the long haul but it has never affected wear numbers in the least. Alot of oils do thin after being in the engine and I think it is by design.

I really can't tell if the fuel is normal or not. Blackstone never reported a fuel dilution issue (but I suspected it due to higher than average Pb readings). Dyson didn't have any problem finding it. I'm searching for other 2UZ-FE used oil analysis ('99-'00 vintage) from Dyson that will tell me how out of whack my engine is. Have you seen any on BITOG?

I'm sure my driving style is contributing to the fuel dilution with many short trips to town (4 miles). But the OCI that was tested also included 2600 miles of highway driving to South Dakota.

I'm happy with the way the #703 handled the fuel, but I'm planning to clean up the engine with some Auto Rx soon. Then I'll go back to #703.
