Would someone with knowledge of both please give an opinion. Not trying to start a flame war, just trying to get opinions from users.

Thanks.

Been using the 258 for about 8 months on a fresh flush. Temp guage is SLIGHTLY down but more importantly the Ph hasn't budged. I will have to trend this out to see if it keeps things balanced and clean as it advertises. I have no experience with RMI 25 but hear it is good stuff too.

Have been using the #258 right at one year on the undercooled '01 Cherokee. Saw slight temp drop, Ph was good until change (5-months). Have right at 7-months on current use of XEREX GL-5 & distilled water (mixed to provide -25F protection per factory guidelines; roughly 50/50)

(System was drained, one radiator fill at a time with distilled until ran clear; used PRESTONE "drive it around" citrate cleaner for several days; again, slow-*** drain and fill with distilled, ran as rinse -- per whatever the instructions -- and again, one rad fill at a time made up with above combo. System has had coolant changed annually [13k, 38k, etc, now at 77k], hoses at end of two years [38k and due again].)

Have been somewhat perfectionistic as this vehicle has a minimally-sized cooling system (13-quarts for 242 cid, ps, pdb, auto, a/c; weighs 3400# in general use) and other users report the cooling system as being marginal in re replacement of radiator/water pump etc at an earlier point than I am used to (33 year-old Chrysler 383 now on second one).

#258 seems to keep the Ph in bounds, even in this hard-run (but well-maintained) system. Have done some towing, and have a 1k trip scheduled at present for August, Dallas to Chicago in the usual 100F weather pulling a 4000# trailer, and vehicle to max.

Believe that #258 provides a bit of margin well worth its low cost. Was not ever really pleased with Water Wetter. Wish I could say something about RMI-25, be glad to learn more.

Back with a report on rmi-25. Bought a quart about 2 months ago and ran it over the summer.

Both cars have radiators that have no deposits in them now. One is 78 volare, other is 70 dart. Both had extensive deposits in the cooling systems when they were acquired. Both have had new radiators installed since I bought them.

The volare has been a cooling problem from the first due to several other problems that hvae been taken care of. The rmi has made the heater work better and now the temp stays where its supposed to in interstate driving--it doesnt slowly creep up. The radiator always had deposits in the tubes, now it looks clean.

The 70 was a mess, i had to take the head off due to 2 burned valves and was able to use a screwdriver to knock about 2 lbs of rust out of the cooling jacket on the block. I flushed the heck out of the block, even pulled two core plugs to get the block flushed.

Put the rmi in and it cleaned the tubes in the new radiator clean of any deposits.

Took a couple three weeks to work in both cars but I highly recommend the product. Will be keeping it on the shelf.

Well, the above Jeep was totalled but we never saw any cooling-related problems in 4-years, 95,000-miles of use in North Texas (8-months of AC use).

Now have 2001 Dodge Ram 318, did an extensive flush-fill routine (several times, with cleaner and with water). Back to factory-spec coolant (plus new water pump) and 180F thermostat replaced by oem-spec 195F.

Scan gauge shows 203F in 100F heat.

RMI-25 added and no signs of "junk" coming from system. Now have 6-7,000 miles on mixture with RMI-25. (Truck at 113,000)

Interestingly, the temp gauge will drop about 20F when on highway (69-71 mph) when ambient air temp drops to mid-forties.

RMI-25 also being used on another 2001 JEEP Cherokee XJ (bought by son), and after a similar clean-up (and 7000-miles since 12/15), no junk to surface. (Jeep @ 75,000).

I'd say that SCHAEFFERS #258 Clean & Cool, and RADIATOR MASTERS RMI-25 are equally good. Both vehicles warm-up very quickly, and shed heat pretty fast as well.
