How many scanners do you use. I ask cause I think I have a problem lol, according to the wife.

Thinkscan plus S4
Lifetime updates mainly for quick codes.

2 dongles for carscanner app
Don't use much although free

Autel 808bt pro
Subscription expired but works great as long as internet isn't needed. Use wireless if chasing fault in one of cars systems

Launch x431 Pro Star
Bought it for coding Fords however, find cord is to short. it isn't a problem with coding.
They all have a purpose.

A professional will have several but a DIYer usually has one or two. I got xtool d7 a couple years back to troubleshoot a couple issues trying to avoid going to a shop and to not go parts cannon. This worked for me, tool paid for itself, so basically I consider it a free tool now, if I need a better tool in the future I can justify buying one. Blue tooth connection may come in handy as some cars need doors closed for proper scans and cable may not be long enough if taking the tool into engine bay.

Could you list the ages of these scanners. Thanks
Yes
Launch new
Autel 1 year
Thinkscan 3 years
Bluetooth dongle I don't remember however it's been awhile.
Bought Autel for a problem child then free updates expired plus sister bought a Ford. I will decide in 2 years on Launch. Autel won't scan Caravan without subscription. I have a workaround though.

I have 2 Snapon Modis, 1 Snapon Verus, 2 Vetronix Mastertechs (one capable of running Honda OE cards and with a full set of GM Tech 1 cards) 1 OTC Genisys, 1 Otofix D1 Lite, 1 Autel IM608, 1 Thinkcar Platinum S10, GM Tech 2, GM GDS2, Ford NGS, Ford IDS, Ford FDRS, Chrysler DRBIII, Chrysler Witech 1, Chrysler Witech 2, Honda HDS and iHDS, Toyota Techstream and GTS, Nissan Consult 3 full dealer version with immobilizer (will buy consult 4 when I need it) Subaru SSM2, SSM3 and SSM4, Tesla Toolbox 3, Volvo Vida, VW ODIS and Audi ODIS.

Autel Maxisys Elite, Snapon Solus Plus, Snapon Solus Ultra, Snapon Modis, Snapon MT2500, GM Tech 2, GM GDS2, Forscan, HP Tuners,
& EFI Live.
I love my old Modis for ABS codes on 2nd Gen Rams, but I have to MASH the buttons to scroll up or down. I bought it used like that.

I wonder if that can be repaired (by me)?

OBDLink MX+ with a random old Android phone with the ODBLink app. I use that phone as I won't be upset with if I break that one while working on a car unlike my main phone. Have also used the OBDLink MX+ with Forscan on Windows laptops for more Ford specific stuff.

Then I have a cheap super basic Bosch scanner that's just handy for quick stuff. Haven't used it in a long time.

I have a Thinktool Pros, Launch X431 Pro3 V+ 5.0 Elite, Otofix D1, Innova 5610, Innova 3140d, AutoXray 6000, Forscan, and Snap On MT2500. The first three are all pretty much full function scan tools with the others having various capabilities. I'm not sure what all Forscan will do as I don't use it that often, mainly because it's easier to pull out one of the tablet scanners rather than messing with a laptop.

I have the Innova 5610 and it does all I need to do including the EPB retract for changing rear pads on my Honda HRV....Easy to use too...

I have a problem 👀
And this is just the Autel side of things 🤫
I absolutely refuse to be beholden to pay someone else or trust their workmanship for something I can handle
$500+ key programming and $129 per rim TPMS sensors will drive anyone to find a better way 😩
I'm a reformed IT man come wrench swinger, most old heads in the shop are the other way around
I just put $200 worth of update into the TS900 (left), so I'm up to speed on MY25 vehicles, and I sunk $60 into AutoAuth for Stellantis vehicles
For everything else, I've got a half dozen or so USB/Bluetooth adapters (OBDLink MX+/EX, vLinker FS, etc) to pair with various Windows or Android softwares (FORScan/AlfaOBD, etc)

I've got a few halfhearted J2534 options (Launch and Autel VCI200) options to pair with iHDS/Techstream
This X431 Pro3+ Elite I bought myself for Christmas last year is a real honey, and it brought me into the J2534 world

I'm currently overstocked on Snap On MT/MTG2500s and Solus Ultras, so if your Modis is acting out, @D60 I might be able to give insight on repair, or a real deal on something similar
Cleaning the membrane contacts under the buttons is fairly easy

Considering I don't do this for a living, my capabilities in some ways have eclipsed the $200+ per hour shops that surround me, maybe one day I'll figure out how to profit from all this 🤔

I've come a long way from a knockoff ELM327 and non pro Torque app in the early 2010s
"Not understanding computers" just doesn't cut it in the auto world in this day and age
