I think it is because I stopped answering calls from unknown numbers and just let it go to voicemail. Now I might get one scam call/text/email a month whereas previously it was almost one a day. I seldom have to block phone numbers anymore.
I don't answer unknowns either. If it is important they can leave a message. Last month I started call screening with the IOS 26 screen feature and my calls have quickly trickled to almost nothing. Must have got on the naughty list somewhere.
I get zero scam calls. A year ago I made the mistake of answering an unknown number. They must've flagged me as a live number because I was getting three scam calls a day for the next three months before they gave up on me. Don't answer unknown numbers.
What ever became of the "National Do Not Call Registry"?
I guess it went the way of the "No Junk Mail" sign up list.
I think such things -stillborn fixes which claimed to protect us- are corrosive to society as they reinforce our feelings of powerlessness and cynicism. We can't even write a law to do this most basic task.
Me, too! Especially since I started a long distance relationship with my new Nigerian princess girlfriend... she doesn't know about my side action with that gal in Mumbai.
I have had my phone number for the last forty years and, from day one, have had wrong number calls come in, averaging one a week. Not scams but misdialed. There is a very large drug store, with a phone number very close to mine. Someone dialing the drug store number will get me if they dial three 6's in a row instead of the two in the drug store number. Not surprisingly, seniors dialing the drug store number will sometimes misdial.

My phone rings off the hook with spam calls. I just enabled a new spam call blocking feature on my iPhone. If you have the new iOS 26 you can enable this feature. We’ll see how it goes…
My wife and I noticed a decrease in spam calls, however I might have to give credit to iPhones new software version. Its seems to have happened around that time for us. I selected a setting, forgot what it was but ... whatever. I think it asks the person if its not in my contact to go voicemail or something.
