Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

I’ve been an Apple products consumer since 1983, but I’m not a Kool-Aid drinker anymore. I’ve been wanting an android phone for the last three years but just can’t bring myself to choose. I like the Motorola RAZR and the Galaxy Flip.

That Motorola will come with better spyware … 😷

Anyone here have one?
Thoughts from owners?
Thanks
My mom has the s22 ultra and is very happy with it. It's only gotten better with the s23 from the reviews I've watched.
I'm hoping to buy her old one in a couple years. My 3 year old lg v60 will stop getting security updates in the next year.

I bailed on Apple a few months ago. No regrets once you figure out all your passwords. Apple is a horrible company, no idea how they manage to keep the image.

If I go back to Android, the phone has to be 100% rootable or "open" enough. I think a Google Pixel would fit the "open" part.
I used to always root my phones back in the days of HTC desire, HTC one, lg g2, but nowadays I don't find it worth it for me. Especially since I use my phone for banking and tap payments.

There are a few linux options for phones now. There is a list of phones and mobile operating software you can install.

Wife has the S22 Ultra. Excellent camera, and the large OLED screen is really nice. The s23 has even better cameras and has a few other upgrades that make it a better overall phone.

We were considering trading in the s22u for the s23u, but the offers weren't overly attractive so we will keep the 22.

I have an unlocked Samsung Z Flip 4 that l got a good deal on. People mock it as being a gimmick, but l find the ability to fold or partially fold very convenient. It's great for zoom video calls. The long term durability is a concern of mine.

Samsung has been providing frequent updates and provides security updates for a few years.

I've had Samsung, Pixel,LG, and Motorola Android phones. Samsung is my favorite.

I like Sony because they are the only high end option with a headphone jack and micro SD but they're way out of my price range. So are the flip phones and I don't think they would hold up for me.
I work in construction and my phone gets used hard. I have the dual screen case for my lg v60 and it was really nice for some situations. Using it on vacation in Punta Cana my camera was going all the time and the dual screen being open acted like a gimbal for really smooth video and better pictures. Unfortunately the dual screen had a crack across the bottom from a drop and it eventually spread across until the charge port connection was falling off. So no more dual screen for me.

Since there is no more new lg phones Samsung will likely be my next choice. They've been making great phones since at least the s10. My older friend is still using an s9 with no complaints and it's his only source of internet.

Totally agree as I've had the S22U for about 1 yr now and it's flawless for my moderate use. Got the 512gb version for half price with a paid for trade-in, so I consider that quite a solid deal. It does get old with the constant 'updated this/that' and another S whatever every 1 or so years. I will honestly say that the S22U isn't much different than the S20U it replaced and definitely not advanced enough to pay full price, which I wouldn't have done anyway. With Samsung claiming updates for at least 4 yrs I plan to keep it that long and still prefer the Samsung/Android platform over anything made, especially the duhPhone. Why people still choose those simple/boring turds is beyond me.
