or what Lindsey Lohan carries in the trunk of her MB......COKE and I dont mean coca-cola....ooops she carries that in her glove box for easy access like her.
oops, i forgot to answer the question...all i have is what came with the car, the spare, jack, emergency kit and a 2 gallon jug of emergency fuel. I do keep a warm blanket and a pillow just incase I need to sleep in the car for times when i am cheap and dont want to pay for a hotel/motel.
I have jumper cables and spare bulbs for just about every external light on the car. The car also came with the usual jack and spare tire but it also came with a screwdriver that has a button on the tip of the handle to remove those plastic rivet-type things that hold the trunk lining in so you can access some of the bulbs that are behind it, as well as a set of three torx bits and one regular flat blade bit.
The tip of the car door key also has a flat blade end on it, useful for removing the battery cover so you can jumpstart the car.
I also have an old unactivated 3 watt analog cell phone in the trunk with a cigarette lighter cord on it. I can use that to call 911 or the state police #77 number, if necessary.
At least till they turn off all the analog towers..
What alreadygone said. Mine's a Springfield, and being in Louisiana where it's legal, is in my passenger compartment in a mounted holster under my seat. Spare mags are in center console.
I keep a small set of tools in each vehicle, and enough stuff to keep the family comfortable for a day or so. I figure the most common worst case scenario would be getting stuck on the road for 8 hours or so in winter conditions, waiting a bad wreck to get cleared. Friends use to snicker a bit, saying that their AAA card and cell phone were all that they'd need, until a fair number of people got trapped at the Oregon - CA border a few years back in a snow storm. After that they started carrying a bit of stuff too.
i carry a spare tyre, jack and lug wrench.
you might find a screwdriver and a socket or 2 in the boot as well.
i have allstate motor club. it costs me $20 every 6 months because i split it with 3 other people. i dont need to carry junk around. allstate will tow me anywhere i want up to 150 miles at no extra charge.

I don't think enough people see the necessity of a fire extinguisher. If you ever need it, you REALLY need it.
After my friends 1963 Galaxie convt. suffered a carb fire, I always carry one.
