SAE 90 EP...?

Bought a new disc mower to cut hay. The gearbox oil in the manual quote....."Use oil type SAE 90 EP. Tank capacity (A and B) is around 0,5 L each."

Where to find find this? or can I use Amsoil 80-90w gear lube which is near me. Thanks

Yes. The AMSOIL 80w90 would probably be fine, but their Severe Gear 75w110 is closer to the viscosity of a traditional SAE 90 gear lube (at operating temperature).

Consider the following: A discbine is usually only used in hot & sunny weather, the gearboxes can be heavily loaded when mowing tall/green hay, and there is hardly any airflow available for cooling...gearbox temperatures can get pretty high.

If the machine is under warranty, you may want to ask the local dealer what they use for service lubes. Either use what's recommended by the OEM, or get the dealer's blessing on something else.

Thanks!... something tells me the Amsoil severe gear would be much better.. I did find plain 90W in a gallon jug at Napa. This must be what they are refering too. I think it was only a GL-1 lube??.. it that bad or good?

I would reach for xxW-90 or xxW-140 GL-5 in your favorite brand conventional or synthetic.
