I was thumbing through my Haynes manual and noticed that the diff. fluid on my Intrepid is supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles. The car has 100,000 miles on it and it has never been changed. So I drained it - it looked like new. Question: the tag on the fill plug says use only 'SAE 80W90 Hypoid gear oil'
What should I put back in it? It takes one quart.

Use 80W90 synthetic hypoid gear oil. There's a trend in the automotive industry to use synthetic for factory fill in the diff to bring the CAFE numbers up. It's worth the extra money for the small amount of synthetic to save on gas mileage.
