S-K ratchet broken

If you want the SK classic roundhead ratchet, buy NOS or used in Ebay.
Best advice right here. ^^^^

SK as a full line USA made tool company has passed. Their classic round-head design ratchets will be on secondary market used for decades to come and cheap.

I can’t criticize the company for giving a gift cert for tool of choice on the retail price of a new expensive ratchet. There is a USA office and American employees. Better than a bankrupt company no office and no employees which is where it was heading. The new ratchet he got, full lifetime warranty.

The LP90 ratchets are made by AJ Mfg.
The classic round head ratchets are made in China.
Any new SK USA sockets are made by Wright.

Skip SK, they are not worthwhile especially with their new ownership. SK is making nothing in the USA.

If you want an AJ ratchet, there are others out there. Same with Wright sockets.

So you think a $98 gift cert for an old cracked SK Wayne ratchet wasn’t good enough? Link to AJ Mfg that makes the LP90?

Was the $98 GC only usable at SK? I would think another 1/2” ratchet would be 1/4-1/5 of that, and just as “reliable”. There are used SK Wayne ones on eBay for $25, and your old one could be used for parts in the future!

That is not what I stated. OP should be happy with the resolution.

I would not spend money on new SK tools for the reasons mentioned.

The LP90 ratchets aren't special or worth chasing anyway at this point, especially at the prices SK is asking. I've had a few, and sold or given away most of them after some use. I currently own and use only the 3/8" standard fixed head ratchet.

AJ maufacturing makes ratchets and tools for a number of companies. I believe Olsa and VIM are selling some varieties.

Reminds me of Better Call Saul where the guy wants to start his own nation-state. He wants to pay Saul millions in the new currency of not-yet-existent nation-state :D

That was the best warranty Ive ever seen. You say skip them. So I say wasn’t their warranty good enough? That’s the train of thought. They would replace it, same part, but sold out. So they send $98 in credits? I never even heard of it. Link to AJ? I searched found some company with 50 people making unrelated things. If those sockets are made by Wright, Im going to be very happy with my set coming soon, at 50% off.

I’ve got 5 gallon buckets full of sockets, screwdrivers and wrenches. My uncle retired from there after 45 yrs. Lots of sears brand in there as well from back when SK made them.
