leverage the facilities and technical capabilities of Shop-Vac
Exactly, and use the gift card they sent.Throw it in the trash so you don't get hurt by it. Don't fix it. Buy a nice new ratchet.
That is like seeking out a brain surgeon to put a band-aid on my scrapped knee, waste of everybody's time.why not take apart and carefully clamp in vise, V out the crack, and weld it with a certainium alloy rod & hopefully the teeth align up,grind/polish ,should be fine to re-use,
Good looking ratchet. Probably NOS. Take the win!
I might try to duct tape it or put a zip tie around the old ratchet and reuse itThat is like seeking out a brain surgeon to put a band-aid on my scrapped knee, waste of everybody's time.
These are like $10-$15 at the flea market.
Pfft, JB Weld FTW. Cap it off with FlexSealI might try to duct tape it or put a zip tie around the old ratchet and reuse it
only if you got the skill and proper equipment. That is like seeking out a brain surgeon to put a band-aid on my scrapped knee, waste of everybody's time.

Point being, just because something is doable, does not make it practical. It is scrap now by any reasonable held standard.only if you got the skill and proper equipment.
Looking on some sites that specify coo, it looks like mainly drive tools such as chrome sockets, ratchets and some outsourced tools such as the extractor sockets and some pliers. most other stuff has been listed as china or taiwan for COO.This is from their website:
"SK Tools USA, LLC is now a sister company of Shop-Vac USA, LLC in Williamsport, PA USA. We have relocated our manufacturing and distribution from Sycamore, IL to Williamsport, PA USA in November 2021. This move allows us to leverage the facilities and technical capabilities of Shop-Vac who also shares our pride of quality, precision, innovation, service, and country.
Under the ownership of GreatStar Industrial USA and its portfolio of brands including Arrow Fastener, Pony Jorgensen, Goldblatt we now have far greater resources and global scale to improve our service and innovate while building on our 100-year reputation. We will continue to manufacture many products in our new Williamsport facility while leveraging the experience and resources of Shop-Vac and our parent company, GreatStar Industrial. This blended approach will allow us to focus our manufacturing, procurement and innovation while improving our service and maintaining our reputation as the premium tools for American professionals."
So it sounds like they make a few things in their USA facility but they don't say what exactly. But yeah, they most likely moved hand tool production to Asia.
If their Amazon store is any indication, it looks they pivoting to "prosumer" and budget conscious techs with a page taken out of the GearWrench handbook.Looking on some sites that specify coo, it looks like mainly drive tools such as chrome sockets, ratchets and some outsourced tools such as the extractor sockets and some pliers. most other stuff has been listed as china or taiwan for COO.
When I click the link it says out of stock, the inside of the ratchet is still good. It’s just cracked on the outside, so it goes in the junk box.Must have been out of stock. It is now, probably due to Amazon sales and their own 30% off sale which just expired. That was very fair treatment they gave you. You have the rebuild kit if it is good. That’s $40.

The word procurement stands out at the end of the second paragraph. Maybe they procure the raw steel or tool blanks from China? Maybe not, but the ratchet on the site doesn’t have USA stamped on it. If is stamped USA I think the steel and all parts have to be made in USA. They are good at business that’s for sure. This is from their website:

Which is embarrassing for US manufacturing. I wish it wasn't stamped USA. I wish SK could do better.{snip} If is stamped USA I think the steel and all parts have to be made in USA. They are good at business that’s for sure.
The LP90 ratchet is marked USA.
