???'s about engine oil for 4-stroke scooter

just got a 2009 Genuine Buddy 125 (made in Taiwan by PGO); engine is 4-stroke 125cc single cylinder; manual states to use 15w40 oil...nothing further;

I do not know anything about heavy-duty 15w40 oil; can someone tell me the advantages of using 15w40 instead of 10w-40 gasoline engine oil? thanks

Congrats on the new scoot.

I doubt that you or your Buddy (pun intended) could tell the difference between 10w-40 and 15w40 motor oil.

Check out the Shell Rotella oils, they are stout and highly regarded around here. If it were mine I would use the Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic.

I would stick with HDEO 15w40 for the extra additives. These scooters are air cooled and operate at high rev in stop and go traffic. It needs all the help it can get with the oil.

Yeah use the HDEO Rotella or Delvac. You will find they are sometimes even cheaper than a 10w40.
