RX8 Seventh oil sample

I would guess that the copper trended down a bit due to the engine break-in process. But iron and lead went up, when both should have trended down. If you look at number of miles versus ppm of the iron and lead, it could be argued that the wear has at least "leveled off," but I do believe other oils could get these numbers looking much better.

Let's assume it takes 6000 miles for the wear pattern to begin to stabilize and look at the wear rates in "ppm/1000 miles" for the last three samples. Dividing by the # of miles in thousands yields....

ppm/1000 miles:

Al, 2.0/1.5/1.0
Cr, 2.0/1.8/1.7
Fe, 9.7/8.8/7.7
Cu, 2.3/1.5/1.0
Pb, 1.0/1.3/0.8
Sn, 0.33/0.25/0.15
Ni, 0.33/0.25/0.30

Seen in this light, all these wear rates trended down nicely or stabilized in the past 14k miles....

What TS said. I don't understand the Fe comment by Blackstone when it's not trending up.
