Hmmm...except for copper, wear metals dont seem to be trending down. Seems like rotary engines dont need breaking in. Why dont you try a thicker viscosity to see if it improves wear.

fuel went way down (I added a piggy-back computer to lean out the map) and everything else besides aluminum looks in order.

We will see at 9000 miles...

Fuel came down --that's good. Redline just doesn't seem worth the extra dough IMHO. Yes, the engine is still breaking in, but I would be tempted to use Mobil 1 0w-20 instead. Mobil 1 0w-20 has some amazing reports on BITOG.

Well, I think you are wasting time and money by too frequent oil drains ans especially using Redline. I'd be switching to M-1, or Amsoil.

If I had a car where a significant portion of the sump didn't drain during an oil change, I'd change the oil extra frequently also. Personally I'm happy to see fuel come way down and flashpoint to go back up to an acceptable level.

Excellent that the fuel, viscosity and flashpoint are all getting better. Tell us more about this piggy back computer thing. This is one clean RX-8 with all these frequent oil changes. Let us know when you deceide to sell.
