omg i am shocked and [censored] at the same time, i purchased a bunch of different deals from different places and as i am doing an oil change at the bike i noticed that ALL filters made by mobil 1 and k&n are badly rusted on the inside. I dont think this is a good deal. im gonna try to exchange these locally, i think this will compromise the engine and oil right?

Yeah, don't use if there is rust on the inside parts of the filter.

Sucks - you bought them online? "try to exchange these locally"

How does that work? Where did you get them?

i cant remember, i am talking about purchases i made 6 months ago.

6 months in South Florida, don't don't where you got them - didn't you look at them when you got them?

Why would a retailer exchange for you?

Not just giving you heck, but is that ethical?

To be honest i did not check any of them as my 3 vehicles use the same part # for filters but mainly because I would never think this could happen but then why did this happen, i have this stored in my garage along with many other things, these are UNUSED/UNOPENED filters but as you may not know these filters come in a box with holes so moisture and things could possibly get in there (not my fault). i am sure once they get returned to the manufacture they can take care of this. i just dont think this should have happened. I am not trying to brake anybody's bank here but i bought these to save money not to have to buy them twice if you follow me.

That rust is pretty bad. I visit south Fla regularly, (Bonita Springs) and my garage gets very very humid inside there. Not sure that would be the best place to put the filters unless you coat them with a film of oil.

As soon as I buy an oil filter for my stash I take plastic sandwich wrap and pull it tight over the base plate of the filter, and up the sides slightly, then I put a rubber band around it. I stick it base plate down back in the box. I store them in the basement, and haven't had any rust issues since I started doing that.

I'd imagine in an extremely damp climate they could be wrapped in sandwich wrap totally and put back in the box.

If they got that way in your storage facility, man up, toss them, buy new ones and store them better next time. If you do some research at various manufacturer's sources, you will find some advice on storage. They are not designed to be stored in a humid environment and a garage in Florida could certainly be called that. For the most part, their packaging is not designed to protect them from that humidity for any length of time. IMO, it's unethical to foist them off on some poor retailer just to save yourself from a valuable object lesson. There are a couple of threads here about storing filter long term here you could research. I use my wife'sFood Saver to bag them up, since mine are stored in an unheated barn/shop in Ohio. There are many other less elaborate but effective ways as well.

I had this problem with fleetguard filters, that and metal shavings from the threads. I quit using them and switched to another brand.

And auto parts stores/Wally World/any other places, they're sold inside where normally it's mid 70's low humidity and on a shelf. I store all mine in my living room...

Hall closet for me.

That rust is owner neglect due to the humid South Florida environment. I can remember everything in my Grandfathers garage in Tampa would have a light coat of rust on all his bare steel tools due to that humidity.

As mentioned, store them inside like in a closet.

THIS is one of the reasons why I REALLY like your EaO filters, since the last batch I bought came FULLY shrink wrapped and sealed.

Of course I also like the Donaldson filtration tech used in them, and all of the other quality components as well!

I bought a microGreen filter for my wife's 2012 Civic Hybrid and it was BADLY rusted. They told me to store them in drier places to prevent rust... even though I had emailed them ONE DAY after I received it. Clearly they need to change their storage methods... or something in my house can rust an oil filter in a day. Needless to say, I will NEVER order another one.

Exactly. Because you stored them in an environment that promotes rust how is that the manufacturers or sellers fault.
Now you're going to try to scam a retailer into exchanging them so they get stuck footing the bill.
No different than common theft or fraud. Sure the boxes aren't sealed air tight which "isn't your fault" however your storage practices caused the rust and that bud is your fault.
So your trying to save money by lying and basically defrauding a retailer into exchanging them for you so they get stuck paying for them.
Nice job.
Straight up dirtbag move.
