Only as an artifact of building online orders at AAP in order to use their discount codes, did I catch an interesting personal mistake.

Recently as I was getting a list together of some things, I ran across the boxes my now 3-yr. old Denso oxygen sensors came in. When I bought these originally, I likely just strolled up to my local parts counter and asked for the sensors my vehicle needed.

That approach usually worked back when I relied on it.

But now I realize that I had received (and was subsequently installed) the post-cat sensor for a GM V8 - instead of my 3800 V6.

Well... the GP has been running ok since my shop installed it back in 2008. I just hope the threading was the same as the proper part. (Denso 234-4025 vs. 234-4087)

So be wise... double check those part numbers!

Just some info.
For cleaning the threads up on O2 sensor bungs a spark plug thread chaser works like a champ, its the same thread.
This is the type like from sear and parts stores for about $6 that are 14mm at one end and 18mm at the other.

Post cat sensors do DO anything to affect the car's running.
They only report a possible problem.
They are often the same or similar to the front one.
If not, it would be tough to get relative readings.
