Hello,I was givin a case of 20w50 royal purple oil.I run a 02 worked trans am,run high 10's on juice.Is this oil better than the Mobil 1 15w50 I use now?

Royal Purple, aside from the race version at nearly $8 per qrt, is a blend. Mobil 1 will protect better, IMO.
Riz; is the whole bottom end of that motor built/worked (i.e.; forged crank/rods/aftermarket pistons/etc.), how much of a shot?? Most on here would just tell you to trade the 20W-50 in on some RP41 (like a 10W-40). This stuff is really good, and unless your builder (if it's in fact built) tells you it's too thin (which I doubt), it's what I would use in the Royal Purple lineup.
dailydriver,she's got it all.Forged crank,Lunati rods,Diamond pistons,blueprinted oil pump. Cam is 230/232 duration,595/585 lift.Right now its a 125 shot,will take a 300 shot of juice.QA1 suspendtion all around. Thinking about going with redline oil now.
Not a bad idea, just thought it would be easier to trade RP for a different RP. You have one "worked" motor there Riz! You will need some big HTHS/TBN/high hot viscosity oil for that setup, especially if you go to bigger injectors/more fuel to handle the 300 shot! Any of the Redlines (thicker than their 10w30) should handle your setup just fine (as would the RP41).
If this is a street block, check with your builder (I don't know how he fitted your clearances), but you may be able to run Red Line 10w30 in that engine and you'll pull better times by doing so. Red Line 10w30 is not like other 10w30s. But check with your builder, as they always have something in mind.
If it's built for track use, then you should be running a straight weight racing grade. And your builder should have told you that already.

. Did you have that thing built at Cartek, and did you just sell an f body winter/snow tire/wheel setup to my brother, Marc?? You worked for/knew a Trans Am team owner, and were into road racing and rallying yourself?? If so, it's a small world afterall!
Totally false and misleading statement.
Please tell us where you heard this because every once in awhile someone comes on this board and makes this untrue statement about Royal Purple oils.
All of Royal Purple's oils are full synthetic. A very small amount of non-synthetic oil is reportedly used as a carrier for the additive package, but this does NOT constitute a blend.
dailydriver,bin away for awhile,just got back.Not the guy your thinking of.My block was put together by Eastside in Conn.Forgot to add, moser 12bolt rear,original 6 speed made bullitproof by rockland standard gear.Also run K/N oil filter.
Because up until about 2000 or so the RP street oils were marketed in the Summit (or was it Jegs) catalog as blends. That's were a lot of people first saw Royal Purple oil.

BTW; did you go for the exorbitent "Tranzilla" or the moderately priced performance rebuild from Rockland??
Dailydriver,sentrockland some other work,got very good price on transrebuild. New gears,steel forks,carbon fiber syncros,the works.Using their brand of Synchromesh,no problems.
