I bought a 2013 Ram 2500 Hemi and drove it 2000 miles before the first oil change. I had heard a lot of good things about Royal Purple, so I thought I would try the 5w20 as required by Chrysler.

Prior to the oil change, I was getting about 15-16 mpg average and got 19.1 hiway. I thought this was super for a 3/4 ton truck.

About 1200 miles after the oil change, I am running a pretty consistent 16+ mpg average, and have hit 21.2 mpg twice on the hiway...

I never used RP before, and never thought there would be any increase in mpg....I tried RP because it was supposed to be a premium synthetic, and I tow 8000 pounds occasionally.

Its other factors than the oil. Its good oil, but oil in almost all cases gives very small gains in mileage that are hard to measure for someone without test equipment and a test track.

Cause then he'll go spreading the myth that royal purple got him better mileage..

typical increase seen from not using the A/C and chicago summer blend gas is now gone. If there were increases that big from an oil, believe me every manufacturer would have their cars tested from the EPA with it and factory fill.
