I have found Royal Purple gear lube in 75w-140 for about $7.00 per quart less than Mobil 1. Does anyone here have comments as to the quality of the Royal Purple?

I would be using it in a 2002 Jeep Wrangler.

I use it in 2 Ford F-250 pickups, one with LS. No extra additive was needed. Personally I rate the RP in the top tier of any OTC gear lubes. I have used the Mobil I 75W140 and it is not worth $7.00 more per quart. In fact, personally, they are on par with each other, Mobil just has a larger advertising budget and buys more shelf space.

I am a great fan of Mobil 1: I run their motor oils in every 4-cycle engine I own, and that's quite a few. I use the Mobil 1 ATF and gear oil as well.
Having said all that, I do not hesitate to use Royal Purple gear oil and would certainly use it with such a difference in price. RP's good stuff.
