Royal Purple 30wt

I changed the oil in my Generac 15 hp horizontal shaft engine and on a B&S push mower to Royal Purple 30 wt, and now both engines have a gasket leak after less than one hour. The leak on the Generac is on the oil filter adapter and now my generator is unusable.

Has anyone had this problem or is it likely just a coincidence?

Any synthetic oil will quickly find the weak spot in a gasket, my old motorcycle was the same. Replaced the gaskets and all was well after that.

Given your weather forecast for LA and your need to have the generator running, I would dump the RP and use a 30wt dino or 15w40 conventional. Try to save the RP for a later time when you can experiment and replace gaskets.
