Rowe HIGHTEC SYNTH RS SAE 0W-40?

Buddy in my AMG club just traded his 2017 S63 and his 2018 GLS63 for a brand new Z06....he offered this oil to me basically "free" but I know nothing about it, and I dont need any oil. He's got 6-5 liter jugs.....I think 100 bucks is fair......seems like a decent oil......229.5 and A40?.....

I am a big fan of the Rowe 0W-40 and like to use it in powerful petrol engines w/o PF (ACEA A3). It's PAO-based and fully synthetic. However, due to its calcium content (API SN), I don't recommend it for engines at risk of LSPI.

This claim simply must die.

Not all DI engines suffer from. LSPI. BMW has been doing DI for decades and they don't even test for LSPI.

Well this oil doesn't have BMW approval, so maybe that's why.

Weirdly, if you check the approvals Rowe claims for Hightech Synthetic RS, it's not on the current VW 502, Porsche A40, or MB 229.5 lists.

People have to understand that A3/B4 formulations are likely not concerned with LSPI because it was being phased out by C3 oils in the EU before small turbo petrol engines became popular. Most users of this oil in EU are probably older cars.

ZDDP is LSPI suppressor. And tgere is a lot of it.

A3 had a lot of ZDDP. ZDDP is LSPI suppressor. The whole LSPI thing started when API limited phosphorus. That, besides bad engineering too.

API isn't even looked at when europeans get oil. it might be mentioned on the back of the bottle somewhere, but certainly no donut on there.
