Rough Idle

I currenty have an 04 Acura TL with 65k miles on it. Usually in the morning after the car has been sitting overnight, it tends to have a rough idle which eventually smooths out. I live in Texas, so cold weatehr is not much of an issue. About 1500 miles ago, I treated the engine with Seafoam (through the pcv line). This seemed to improve my acceleration, which often seemed rather throaty. I'm currently treating the crankcase with AutoRX which seems to give me an added smoothness/quietness. I've got another 2000 miles to go for this cleaning process. I plan on another Seafoam treatment just shortly before I reach the end of the 2000 miles. I also just changed my spark plugs and air filter. Am I doing all the right things? What could be causing this rough idle? Any thoughts are appreciated.

P.S. I'm not mechanically inclined!

I would finish you ARX application completely before running any seafoam through the intake. That is run the cleaning phase for the full 2500 miles, followed by a 3000 mile rinse.

You may want to take a look at your airfilter as well. Restricted air while the cold motor is running full rich may be a factor. Perhaps you might want to check the plug wires as well.

New set of plugs fixed my Honda's rough idle... But you already did that. I'd look at cleaning your idle control valve and EGR valve and passageways if those are known issues with this model. I know they are with many Honda engines.

Since your doing all this stuff, the new plugs and air filter, sea foam, ect. . . I would unplug the battery for a few hours and let the cars computer reset. Let it relearn the air to fuel ratios with the new plugs, filter, and all. I think that will solve your issue.

The Auto-Rx can cause some unusual symptoms during the procedure. I'd make sure the air filter was clean and that the PCV was in working order and save all your other "rememdies" until the A-Rx is over.

I may be wrong but I thought there was a bulliten on the EGR for the '03-04' 3.5L. Check into this and give it a thourough cleaning as suggested!
