Rotella T6 15w-40 on Amazon

A good price but its not sold from amazon but a 3rd party seller.
Its a generic storefront that appears to mainly resell sams club and costco merch.

I noticed the 3rd party. If it comes as single jugs per purchase, not a good deal. If they come as pairs, great deal. I haven't had an Amazon dispute in a few weeks so I'm game for the disappointment.

How do you guys know that's what this is? I'm genuinely curious. I would have thought it would be shutdown already if they were as it's been operating for 6+ months

Edit: they have been around for just under 4 years and many of their poor reviews were from crushed, melted, or stale candy in 2023.

I have some experience with this. I have been buying jugs of oil for amazing prices on eBay. Sellers are listed in NY, Malaysia, etc.
Good feedback, the orders are all fulfilled by Walmart. Apparently the sellers can sell so cheap, since their cost of goods is zero, using hacked credit cards, and their only expense are the eBay fees.

I posted about it here, and learned the sellers apparently use stolen CC info from other forum users here. First I had heard of it. Apparently eBay and Amazon look the other way as long as the customers are happy.

I bought three and then I bought three more.

I reached out to the seller to ensure they were indeed two packs. In response the seller petitioned me to cancel my order and eventually did so him/herself. Some excuse about listing error or not enough supply.

The other order has shipped but FedEx says it's only 12 pounds. So it's not two jugs and it's not six.

So it's either a scam or a listing error and the seller is attempting to back out. In either case, Amazon is going to get to handle the issue and negative seller feedback. Mine should arrive by end of week.

Oh you guys were right. This was 100% a scam of some sort. There is a tracking number and apparently it was supposed to be delivered to my home town yesterday but the tracking doesn't even show my address and it says signed by someone not me.

This sounds like a scam that's been a thing on ebay for some time.

They forge a shipping label to a random address in your zip code. The tracking info looks legit because it's headed to your zip. It gets delivered and delivery confirmation gets them paid. It's a random item in the box but because it goes to a mystery address, and the info on the label is all bogus, the recipient is none the wiser. It makes chargeback difficult because tracking shows delivered to the appropriate zip with no specific street address given.

Kinda surprised this is a thing on Amazon now. I'm sure we'll get our money back, but the scam is smart enough that it makes it difficult for authorities to backtrack.

Call the local fedex hub and see if you can intercept the package and/or get their fraud department involved.

Look up FTID scam.

Believe it or not, Amazon refunded me immediately. I think the seller chose Wrong Part was Sent as the reason. I saw another reviewer of them say that as well. I gave them a 1 star review with explanation.

I did try to initiate a missing package with FedEx using the tracking number but the link did nothing. I imagine because the addressed recipient is not me. You might have been aware that I wouldn't be able to do this and that's why you said call, but I will leave it as is since I got my money back.

Okay, so I'm really confused. I placed two orders of three. I expected each order to yield six 2.5 gallon jugs. The seller cancelled one order. I was only charged for one, which Amazon has refunded. The fedex tracking number that Amazon has for the one order...the one that is only 12.5 pounds and isn't headed to my address...that tracking number is still live, not yet delivered.

And today two one gallon containers from walmart plus landed on my porch. No box, just two jugs of oil with stickers. I have no idea who Mr. M. Noriega is, but his account has been hacked. So instead of FTID scam, it's trangulation fraud combined with a listing error, where walmart is being used to fulfill items sold on Amazon. All the scam boxes checked.

Maybe the delivered oil doesn't have anything to do with the Amazon incident.

I'm crazy confused. Needless to say this isn't $221 worth of oil, so I'm glad I got refunded.
