Asking for a friend of mine. It has 91000 on it. He uses it for his business. He also considered MaxLife. I think either is a good idea myself.

Its boring i guess. Idk its not my truck.

I'd have no problem running the synthetic 5w-40 T6 in the out-of-warranty turbo. Considering all the positive UOAs from other turbo motors, T6 would be my preference.

You can't just put up charts and expect everyone to understand, explain why so the younger posters can gain some knowledge. Otherwise the question will keep being asked.

RT6 5w-40 is thicker at -2F than 10w30 conventional, as I learned last week!

I'd run the T5 year round or T6 in the summer if it gets too hot there.

What is the specification for the engine originally.

Forget the stupid "its all CAFE" argument. What's the spec?

Coming from driving >>200k mile turbos (original), Im not concerned. What evidence do you have ecoboost turbos will be an issue, and what evidence do you have that a different oil will have any influence on that longevity???

It is thinner at -25C, which is where the CCS for a 10w-xx is measured. The previous chart shows a CCS of 6,000cP at -25C. The 5w-40 had the same CCS of 6,000cP, but at -30C. So at -25C, it would have been about 3,000cP.

5w30 is spec'd for all Ecoboost engines except the 1.6.

The turbos are also coolant cooled now. So the oil passages won't plug up with sludged oil from oil cooling.

The turbos should last a good long time.

I dont have any evidence. Im just wondering considering turbos arent fords "thing" and i know that turbos have ball bearings which can "fail" after high temps and high mileage. And diesel oils sometimes are considered as a good substitute for High mileage oils.
