Changed it back in August with Shell Rotella T 10W-30 and put on a new Amsoil oil filter.
Previous fill 5,000 miles of the same oil, see previous UOA here.
Fourth sample of 8/20/09 was the previous fill of Rotella T 10W-30 and did not get a new filter, left the Amsoil filter on for 2 runs.
Third sample of 5/15/09 was Rotella T 10W-30 and a new Amsoil filter.
Second sample of 7/28/08 was GC with a UPF-52 filter.
First sample of 9/2/07 was Valvoline 10W-30 most likely with a cheap oil filter from my mechanic after fixing some oil leaks.
Napa Gold air filter used, changed at 120k and 130k.

Blackstone Coments:
Nice drop in aluminum. It still has a little ways to go before we can call it normal, though we like the improvement here and hopefully it will look even better next time. All other wear looks great and is right were we would expect it after just 2,558 miles use on the oil. The viscosity was normal this time and the oil was still free of any harmful fuel dilution or anti-freeze. We still don’t know what cased the jump in wear last time, but assuming it's cause is a thing of the past, we think a longer oil run next time should be fine. Try ~6,000 miles and check back.

Last time I was not happy with what I saw due to the high aluminum. The guesses that came out of the last thread at the time were detonation (inaudible,I did not hear any) or later in the thread I recalled an instance where we nearly ran out of gas and the check engine light came on due to low fuel pressure about 1 mile before the gas station on the toll road. We kind of stumbled up to the pump that time. I thought it was going to come to a stop at the exit but it kept running. This was bought up late in the last thread and nobody commented on it. Obviously the car was running extremely lean at this point and could have caused excessive combustion chamber heat since it was running full throttle with too little fuel to run properly.

The Aluminum came down significantly this time. I still did a few hundred miles of towing my travel trailer which didn't seem to hurt it. I think most of the Aluminum is residual since the oil cooler does not allow a complete drain of the old oil.

Comments welcome.

Looks much better. I'm not sure I'd jump all the way up to a 6,000 mile OCI as Blackstone recommended, but I'd certainly let it go 3-4k miles this next time.

Where are you getting the Rotella in 10W-30? My source here dried out of that viscosity grade.

Looks much better, next UOA will tell the tale. Keep in mind this interval was during cooler temps and half the mileage.

I guess part of the question was what caused the original spike in Al. High heat or running it out of fuel while under heavy load? Running out of fuel is a lot easier to avoid if you're paying attention. I've learned it doesn't pay to push it close to empty when towing a trailer (getting 8mpg) with only a 21 gallon gas tank. After that incident we filled up about every 90-120 miles.

I'll probably run another short run then go back to 5k miles if all looks well. The next test will be next summer if we tow in warm weather again.

Looks a lot better. I suspect your operating conditions are just so hard on this engine and oil that frequent changes under 4k miles are a necessity. Not many here would argue that hard towing dictates more frequent oil changes.
