i had this done for a comparison to the T6 when i can get my hands on some around here.

i had opened the bottle previously and put a sample in the freezer. would that have led to the "oxidation" taking place?

1ppm Mg has the same molarity as 1.67ppm Ca; the atomic weight of Mg is 24, Ca 40. PPMs are by weight. They are both divalent cation alkaline earth metals

I've read a lot of your post with great interest for the past few months, so now I must ask, what do you do for a living. Are you a chemist or tribologist?
 
No, I'm just an ordinary MD; except I have a BA in physics and among my reading hobbies are geology, physics and now lube oils.

I never thought of Physics as as Art?

BTW Charlie I spent a few years in AK myself growing up. (up in FAI). I do miss it sometimes.
 
The assumption is that more additives means a better product. Perhaps it is possible that the oil is better, therefore additives are not as important as they used to be?
