Rotella 10W30 oil
Purolator automotive oil filter
MMO as a UCL.

This is my first run with Rotella 10W30.
The wear metals look good but this is the first oil that I didn't like the feel of in the transmission.

The lead fell a bit and Blackstone noted that.

I filled the bike with Super Tech 15W40 this time and I 'll test that at 8,000 miles

Blackstone Labs Test results:

You say "didn't like the feel of in the transmission" - what's up with that? Just curious

I have used the Rotella 15w-40 dino and Rotella 5w-40 synthetic before in a Shadow with no issues. The 5w-40 ran smooth on the shift and clutch.

Some say not to use the Purolator Pure One because the bypass pressure rating or something - don't know if that's an issue. I have used them myself with no issue. I have heard that Purolator
also backed down and to use their motorcycle filters - probably to make an extra buck. Read some time ago also on another forum but don't recall all the details.

Will be curious what the ST will do.

My ST never shifts "really" smooth. It's easy to get a little grind especially going into 2nd if I'm lazy when I shift. With the 10W30 this happened much more often. Nothing major but I did notice that difference.
