I am so sorry to hear of this. I thought he was great in so many roles, and yes, “I would have liked to have seen Montana” from Hunt for Red October was one of his great scenes.

I always liked Sam, and like the others, I feel his best role was in The Hunt for Red October, but also loved his biggest role in Jurassic Park.

I remember him from the ABC miniseries Amerika. He played a Soviet official tasked with governing the former United States which had been taken over via a bloodless coup.

He played Damien creepily well.
