You sure? I thought I read somewhere in one of the magazines (Motor Trend, Car and Driver? Can't remember which), that Chevy was using DI on the Cruze. If they use conventional fuel injection, I'm much more comfortable with buying one. Thanks!

Not Direct Injection

There is a slight loop hole in the owner's manual...maybe:

"Use only engine oil that is approved to the dexos specification OR AN EQUIVALENT ENGINE OIL OF THE APPROPRIATE VISCOSITY"

Are there any oils equivalent to dexos, but not certified/approved?

There are a few on the market. Both Amsoil OE and XL 5w30 meet the dexos1 spec. Now Valvoline Durablend and Synpower 5w30 meet the dexos1 spec.

Thank you very much! Excellent news! Taking the wife to look at one this weekend.

I'm already missing the days that ANY engine could operate on any universal oil, as long as the grade was proper for ambient.

Now it seems many automakers want to have a specific oil for their engines. Makes you feel all warm inside while prices will probably go up as a result.

Whats next? How about GM make their own grade? How do ya'll feel about a 8w27? Only use an approved 8w27 with the 1.353.4GF cerification or your engine wont be happy.

I just bought a Cruze Eco yesterday.
I am impressed by the ride quality and the quietness.
The Cruze Eco is is so quiet that I can only hear a little noise from other cars, slight noises from the harshest pavement, and the wind noise from the side view mirrors.

Twice today I have received unsolicited comments that it resembles a 328i BMW.

MPG? In mixed driving with a little over 100 miles showing; the overall MPG is indicated at slightly better than 39 MPG.
This is from a mixture of about 50/50 city/highway.
The base Eco is well equipped for my purposes...I am happy with this purchase.

Rickey.

Thank you very much for your info! We're looking primarily at the 2LT, as for some reason she thinks she needs all the bells and whistles...
