I think he is looking for info on Reformulated Gasoline. Just a guess.

Sorry, RFG North is apparently the name for the ReFormulated Gas used in the north east. Read it today on a DOT.gov website. What I was wondering is aside from the aditives that the oil companies throw into the mix, what are the main chemical diferences between winter and summer gas. What type and how much oxygenate are they dumping into the mix?

Just surmizing but I would think they would increase the emulsification, rust preventiative, and corrosion additives that are needed to fight moisture condensation. They would probably lower the oxygenate levels by a small amount as well.

I think the terminology RFG North & RFG South, for practical purposes, only applies to the reformulated gas for the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic states.

See the US Gasoline Requirements Map .

And it primarily involves winter-summer differences for Reid Vapor Pressure ratings(volatility) and the oxygenate requirements of 2-3%, which are normally increased for the winter months to reduce the effects of idling/warmup on emissions.
