my car sprung a leak in #4 injector..i found its one of the 3 o-rings...ill replace them all anyways.

my question since im taking out the fuel rail..would it be wise to put some concentrated fuel cleaner/injector cleaner inside the fuel rail when im finished to "superclean" the injectors?

any ideas?

27,3,2 are the seals...

One technique I have used is to energize each injector with a AA battery while it is removed and then spray injector cleaner through it.

FWIW, I put Dow Corning 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant (silicone grease) on the o-rings before reinstalling the injectors. Makes the job easier and prevents damage to the o-rings during installation.

It may not help much. Why? remember the fuel is continually being recirculated back to the tank via the fuel pressure regulator at the end of the fuel rail. Within a few seconds the injector cleaner is going to be in the tank where it will dilute normally.

The top seal o-ring is the one that wears and holds the fuel pressure. The others are just just compression cushion rings and air seals and last much longer. The o-rings wear from movement from heating cooling and breakdown from the fuel itself.

well i did my fuel injector seals today, wasnt hard at all.

the top seals were shot though, very brittle...but i replaced them all.

i also inspected inside where the injectors lie and there is alot of build up of crap....in the injector spray port is clean but around it where the plastic is, is very grimmy...i wiped it but noticed on # 1 injector there was a crack on the plastic that goes into the engine...iono what that means.

i cleaned it and put them back in and changed the seals. now no more leak.
