So I have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner that calls for 31x10.5R15 LT tires. Apparently it's an all-terrain only tire size and since this 4x4 truck does not see off-road, I want to put highway tires on them for longer life and LRR tire options. Wolfram Alpha shows a p-metric conversion of 267/76R15 so the nearest would be 265/75R15 which gives me some LRR options.

Another options would be to go to the Option 1 tire size of P225/75R15 which has sparse options and means going smaller.

235/75 would throw your speedo way off...225/75 would be even worse, I don't know why you're considering them.

I ran 265/75R15 Nokian Vatiiva tires on my 1990 4Runner for 50,000 miles. The ride is slightly better, handling slightly worse (and it's not good to begun with) with P-metric tires. You don't have to worry about load, both are way oversized for the GVWR of the 4Runner.

Given your use, P-metrics would be a good choice.

I went to Tire Rack and out of 26 different tires, 4 of them are all season. So there are some options there.

But P265/75R15 is the same diameter, and there are more options in an all season type.

31x10.50R15 is a great tire size with a lot of available choice. Excellent non-A/T options:

Cooper Discoverer HT3
General Grabber HTS
Goodyear Wrangler SR-A
Michelin LTX M/S
Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country

You also have great options with the "equivalent" P265/75R15 size:

BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A Tour
Firestone Destination LE2
General Grabber HTS
Goodyear Wrangler SR-A

For your situation and climate, I think I'd buy the Firestone, the General, or the Goodyear in the P265/75R15 size. All of these have pretty mild "street tread" and will be quiet and comfortable. You probably don't experience any winter weather in Hawaii, so snow traction is likely of zero concern to you. I suggest buying which ever of these three that you can get for the best price.

LT31x10.5R15 = 30.8" outside diameter & 2250# max load @ 50 psi.

P265/70R15 = 30.7" O.D. & 2469# max load @ 44 psi.

You are good in both respects to change the size. Tirerack has the Firestone Destination LE2 in this size for $111. Everything costs more in the islands, but you have an idea now.
