Is vavoline dot3/4 brake fluid a good choice for a 02 gm sonoma that calls for dot 3 fluid. Any possible problems using dot 3/4 instead of strictly dot 3?

I have used Valvoline synpower 3-4 in all 3 of my vehicles + my motorcycle which call for dot3 for 4 yrs now with no problem. Just make sure you don't use the 5.0 (silicon based) brake fluid, it doesn't mix with the stuff you have in there now.

I second the vote for Synpower brake fluid. Working fine for me in my DOT 3 application. My local Autozone has the 12 oz size on sale at $1.99 each.

Nope, no issues.

i personally think the valvoline synpower brake fluid is the best readily availible over the counter brake fluid today, with castrol LMA coming in at a very close behind. the one i like over this when i find a good supplier, is ATE typ200 of the ate super blue, same fluids just one is dyed.

Any of the Dot4 fluids are excellent.

Its a coin toss since clean brake fluid is more important than brand. Bleed yearly, topoff as needed, and siphon/refill regularly.

Castrol and Valvoline seems to have the most shelf space. But, now other brands of Dot4 have popped up, like Prestone, Pyroil, QuakerState, Gunk, and the store brands.

I usually just gather some old fluid up in a jar while I'm at the junkyard, works fine. No way I am I going to waste $1.79 on a pretty new bottle of it.
