Replacement cooling fan

One of the cooling fans is working intermittently on my 2006 G35. Apparently the cooling fan motors have a tendency of failing.

OEM is too cost prohibitive so my options for replacing the entire cooling fan assembly are either TYC or Dorman. Which one would be better? Both are priced about the same but I don't have much experience with either brand.

both are pretty known brands. make sure you price check around on rockauto and amazon using the part number.

TYC is well regarded, I have one on the MGM in my sig that was recommended here-look for one that has a lifetime warranty (which may be anywhere).

I've had good luck with TYC, and also Dorman.

Read reviews for the specific part if available, and maybe ask on a vehicle or brand specific forum to see what other owners have done.

While the motors may have a reputation for failing, do some quick tests of the wiring and control system to make sure you're not throwing money and parts at the wrong area.

The tyc products I have used were made in Taiwan,not China. There is a differences.

The cheap aftermarket rad and condenser fans have worked fine for me on my OLD Corolla. But they can be a little noisier and produce a little more vibration than OEM.

TYC might be slightly better than Dorman. Some people hate them with a passion. I try to avoid them if possible, a few times I've gotten low or poor fitting parts from them. If the part is cheap enough, sometimes it's ok as it's simple enough not to screw up too badly.

You must be cautious to troubleshoot the wiring and controller(s) as well. This is without regard for what aftermarket fan you choose. Typical dual fans will have one go out first and many owners never even notice.

For my sig car the aftermarket was a whole lot less and has performed well for years now.

I used a TYC going on 4 years in a VW the OE VW is garbage, this one was hanging in there the last time I saw it.
Check the OE fans with a power probe or hot wire first, a lot of times the relay or temp sensor has a fault.

If you live in a larger city, hit the scrapyard. Fans are easy to test.
