While Ive got it off I want to cleanup the spline and tidy it all up. Theres decades of old grease and crud on the shaft. Q: How do I clean off the old grease? What solvent?

Lots of different degreasers exist out there, but I'd be a bit worried about an aqueous product if there are small gaps where it could remain.
