Remving Old Grease From Driveshaft Spline

Gday folks

So I need to do the ujoints in my 4wds driveshaft. While Ive got it off I want to cleanup the spline and tidy it all up. Theres decades of old grease and crud on the shaft.

Q: How do I clean off the old grease? What solvent?

Carb cleaner and a toothbrush.

try something simple/straightforward first, diesel fuel or kerosine is a good option.

Lots of different degreasers exist out there, but I'd be a bit worried about an aqueous product if there are small gaps where it could remain.

Right thanks - carb cleaner. It evaporates and I know it tidies up wheel bearings good. thanks

Mineral spirits and a rag should wipe it clean w/in a couple of swipes.
