I have a Airens 36" snow blower with a 11 HP B&S engine, maybe 8-10 yr old. The starer needs to come out so I can replace the shutoff valve in the gas tank above. I see 2 bolts about 6" long that may hold the starter together or the starter to a bracket. Not sure which?

Is normal white teflon tape OK for gasoline threads?

Thanks.

Threads exposed to gas/oil require special tape, believe it's yellow, white pipe tape won't do it.

I have yellow tape also but thought is was for gas (propane and natural).

Got a model number of the engine?

The starter usually mounts with two short bolts, 1/4-20 thread. The bracket is the top of the starter housing.

Yes yellow tape is for everything but oxygen. Grey is for stainless and white is air and water. I saw pink one day. I think it was like white. Also the appropriate pipe dope would be good to. For trouble fittings I put tape on first then a coating of dope on top of the tape.

Thank you. To remove the starter you just remove the two smaller bolts on the "bracket."
