Refining oil without a refinery in Nigeria. This is not Political so please don't close this thread. Watch how they process the oil.

I didn't think it was possible to refine oil using very low tech techniques to make diesel and gasoline.

Imo it would make more sense to suck the product up and sell it to a real refinery so they can add it to their process and make it up to snuff.

Wonder what filters they use when using those fuels in a car?

I believe most Nigerian crude is quite light and easy to refine. However, I'm not very confident on how much of the product is Tier 1.

Just add some power service to it!

Yeah that crude is like water. When I was in the Citgo refinery in Illinois, they usually ran crude that wouldn't even really flow until it was over 400* or something silly like that. A good portion of it (vacuum tower bottoms) ended up going for asphalt.

Some of it did make it over to the Alky unit (HF acid, extremely nasty stuff!) to be turned into higher octane gasoline. This video was awesome, thanks OP!

Nigeria oil is consider sweet crude much easier to refine, the 900 degrees just removes the more volatile stuff and the heavy stuff settles to the bottom.

The octane rating on diesel is call cetane not sure how well the diesel engines will run w/ this stuff.

I thought the temp needed to be much higher than 900 degrees.

You're correct, their oil is considered "Light Sweet Crude."

Military followed the news crew! Just like El Chapo. Very sad state of affairs in Nigeria/Africa. Learned something new today. Thanks for posting.

Don't worry. It's not uncommon for the thieves the incinerate themselves when the leaking product ignites.

Oh, yeah?!?!?

What about the 1,300,000,000 gallons of gasoline burned by Americans every year WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVE-THROUGH?????????

Yep - if they're going to destroy that oil, why not send in a truck or two and tote it off-site and re-refine it? Kerosene isn't like hooch.

Oil refining and moonshining have common origins - distillation. And both fuel and booze are taxed.

Not just that but the obesity crisis as well. Akio Toyoda once said in a interview he'd much rather see people park and walk up for their food. I almost always park and go to a fast food joint, but not everyone does that.

I just saw all the dumping and cutting the containers open and just letting it run in the river - -

They are complete idiots for not seizing that product and not recycling it. Complete and total morons.
