I thought using PP with Auto RX was prefered. I remember reading a post from Frank that said something about the current Castol GTX "sludge fighter" not being ideal, and that PP could be used in its place.
No its a 04 Hemi Ram without the MDS. At the time Chrylser wanted 5w-30 used. Its got 80Km on it. I am just going to use PP 5w-30 this time. Maybe next time I will try something differnt.

Quote: Straight Castrol GTX non synthetic oil & Auto-Rx works great on 99.9% of all engines( you may not be able to find Straight Castrol if it has "Sludge Fighting Chemistry"on label pass) and go on to Group111 Oils (Pennsoil Platimum) always stay with OEM specs for oil visosity.
With 80,000 km highway, your engine's just about broken in. If you changed your oil regularly, there is no need to clean inside your engine. Just use the PP and be happy.

Now come on..where does that come from...? Who has quantified how many OCI's of redline it takes to "make a difference?" Terry has said it would take 3 changes to level off wear metals, but....
I don’t have photo evidences as we also don’t think RL will have such cleaning effect, the reason my friend use it on his GDI engine is apparently the high heat his engine is generating. He used to be using Castrol RS 10w50 fully syn.
After effect over 3 OCI of 10k km (RL 5w40) was the visible cleaning of brown varnish inside his valve cover. We were very surprise that the cam and valve spring were silver & bright again but that took 1 ½ yr 30k km though.
I’m just sharing our experiences that ester base oil do clean but maybe not as aggressive as what we would like or fast as Auto-RX.
Hollywood, I hope that you back your run of PP up with a
UOA at 5 or 6k, and not wait until 10K. It's best to ease
into such things as extended oil change intervals.
Example being my 03 Explorer. I waited until 9K to run
a UOA on M1EP 5-30. The numbers were not impressive, and
Blackstone suggested that my car didn't like extended oci's
Maybe your Dodge will love PP (I hope so) but engines don't
always get along even with good oils.
