25% Redline (5W-20), 75% Mobil DriveClean 5w30
4,978 Miles 30% Trip, 70% Very short trips
Time 10-13-04 to 03-05-05 almost 5 months

2L 2001, 145 HP, Nissan Sentra (Automatic)

Previous Analysis's showed Higher Leads (approx 10 ppm) Previous UOA Vehicle tends to be driven very easy and the result is that engine spends most of its time below 2K rpm (Lugging)

I am extremely happy with the results.

I'm dissapointed in the fuel and Flashpoint. But I know that the trip I took just before sampling was short.

Currently I have 5w30 MotorCraft GF-4 and a Quart of Redline 10w30.

I was concerned that I might have some antifreeze bc the vapor seems to last a long time. I think its due to the many short trips and it relates to the Fuel/Viscosity issue.

hey al, where's the wear??

like you said flashpoint is down and fuel. fuel probably from the winter weather. was this the old mobil drive clean or the gf-4 group 3 stuff? this redline mixing is showing good UOA results

Wow, if you can help it you might as well stick with rl/dc. Show this to the mix haters.

Looks like insols will be your limiting factor, which is common.

I think that last trip makes a huge difference in fuel and flashpoint, based off the used oil analysis I have done and the driving I did before I drained the oil.

Looks good Al. My opinion has changed after talking to Mark and others though on the Pb. Not trying to be the "negative one" here but 10ppm more is really insignificant and Pb with RL isn't wear as we think of it IMO. Can't back that up, but that is the opinion I have on it. But stick with what your doing, it looks good.

( I wouldn't rule out moisture being an issue with RL either in some used oil analysis with all that ester)

That is a really super result, Al. I have 1 quart of Red Line 5w30 I plan to use as an additive.

I have already used a couple ounces in one of our snowblowers and I think I'm gonna use the rest of the quart in my Nissan 2.5L QR25DE this summer.

Having the engine running below 2,000 rpm and lugging are not necessarily the same thing. If you are indeed lugging this is not easy on the motor and could be a contributing factor to the fuel dilution.

Wear metals look great. Couldn't ask for better.

Redline continues to present itself as an exellent oil additive.

Low ZDDP could either be a lab snafu or maybe this particular engine just "leans on" the EP adds a little harder than most.

In either case, there's no need to change a thing. Good report. Who did it?

Blackstone. I agree with your comments. I ran this one with MotorCraft/RL and now have Havoline/RL in there. As soon as I can I am going to pur the Havoline/RL in my son's car.

Blackstone recently re-calibrated their spectro-thingy... seems the ZDDP was reporting too low. All other aspects of the analysis were fine.

Your analysis was probably done prior to the re-cal of Blackstone's machine. This error was causing ZDDP to report at about 1/2 of the actual amount.

See the VOA on Pennzoil High Mileage and and resulting fallout...

So the EP pack is probably just fine...

the Elves would like to know if you are the same Al they had in blending school about 6 months ago (they keep saying, "Al from Transylvania," but I figued they meant Pennsylvania). If you are, they are still amazed at not only your ability to pick up blending techniques but also at your ability to eat prodigious amounts of schnitzel und pommes frites!

I'm not sure that the Redline helped a whole lot..I think the car is just starting to show better used oil analysis . But you make a point. I'm changine my son's oil tomorrow and am going with Havoline/Redline. Maybe I'll up it to compare to what I put in mine. I hate to admit it but I Over filled mine by 3/4 quart (long story) and as a result with the draining process I have in under a quart of Redline. I think I will go a bit higher on his.

I may not be the same mixologist-not sure_

. But I have been mixing things up a bit=I have no life.

(EDITED)

I'm not confused now! I read this post above a few times earlier... now I've figured out what oil is in Al's ride & going somewhere else.

Been up most of the night... need more coffee I guess.
