Redline D4 ATF

Hey,

So I filled one ATF transmission with Amsoil Universal ATF .. i guess it works good

I heard a lot about this Redline D4 ATF

Car that it will be used 2005 Mazda 3.

I heard that D4 ATF wasn't really good for some AT because of carbon swelling ?

I have been running D4 in the Aerostar for several years now. No problems. Can talk to Redline chemist about carbon swelling.

I've been using D4 in my 04' Mazda6 Jatco ATX with good results. I've never heard anything about carbon swelling with this oil.

Eric, I have to ask you....why do you put Amsoil in your 4 yo Mazda, but put cheap synthetic in your new Caddy?

You got it.

The reason i put Redline, along with a ATX cooler in my almost 5 yr. old Mazda is that the car looks practically new, and only has a pathetic 26k miles on it. I plan on keeping it for a long time. Also the Jatco ATX is known for heat and eratic shifting issues, especially in this application.

Sounds like [censored] to me. I have been using D4 for years in many applications. Carbon swelling??? Sounds like someone who is a redline hater made that up about this fluid. You cant go wrong with redline or amsoil atf. The only negative thing you can really say about either is the price!

It seemed that the shifting firmed up when I went to Redline. Main reason I went to Redline ATF is that I don't ever want my transmission to have to be rebuilt. I was running Mobil 1 ATF but when I found out Redline had higher antiwear rating and that Redline's base oil could take more heat, I figured Redline was the way to go. Especially in the Aerostar, those transmissions were not the greatest, but this one is going on 131,000 miles and so far no issues, just periodic fluid and filter changes.

yeah Im getting some harsh shifts brand new transmission .. i hope redline will smooths it out ..

What do you mean by harsh shift?

Typical passenger car auto transmission is made to shift smoothly, often achieved by having slippage during shift. This creates extra heat. Shift kits will firm up those shifts, reducing slippage. It will result in a jerkier shift (you'll feel it as opposed to a liquid smooth transition) which is better for the transmission, less heat, and should improve acceleration times.

The firmer shift is often provided in trucks and towing vehicles, some have a selection for towing that firms up the shift, which I would use all the time even running unloaded.
