Redline 5WT Drag Race Oil substituted for 2T

I went ice fishing today and ran my 2 stroke generator for 13 hours on a 725 watt load, which includes a freeze plug block heater and on-board battery maintainer. I unplugged the truck and used a 750 watt hot plate for 30 mins to boil snow for my Mountain House meal.

It consumed a gallon and a half of 40:1 91 octane with Redline 5WT drag race oil.

It ran fine, no smoke, but a nauseating smell did emanate from the exhaust. Possibly the polyol ester base or tons of zinc and mag from Redline?

Pics below are with my camera phone of the plug and piston/chamber.

I expected a lot more carbon. The piston has almost plastic black coating but the plug look cleaner that when I use even Amsoil Saber.

Why? Because I can and this generator has been bulletproof. Just to see if the little genny would get temperamental or seize up.






 
I've seen 2-cycle/stroke referred to as 2T on here and in other places, particularly in reference to the oil itself. Such as '2T Oil'.
 
The "T" could be a French thing, 2 temps and 4 temps,
Or it could be German, taktzeit refers to a cycle..

I always thought it should be "S" for "Stroke"

Aaand, we have a winner here, T is for Takt. German for stroke/cycle.
 
I'm not at all surprised. The major difference between various two stroke oils seems to be limited to 3 areas. Combustion chamber/ring deposits (they are closely related) , Ring wear over the exhaust port and powervalve/exhaust deposits. I would not expect 1.5 gallons of fuel consumed to cause any significant deposits in that engine, regardless of oil used. You've processed just so much carbon... 100 gallons of the mix might show some significant differences, good or bad!

A few 2T oils are quite diluted and when using them at lean ratios, such as 80 to 1, the reality is that it's more like 100 to 1. The result is, as expected, more wear and more piston scuffing. I'd guess that conventional motor oil is not significantly diluted with non lubricating components.
 
4T, 2T is indeed north european.
Fyrtakt or tvåtakt in swedish, zweitakt/viertakt in german etc etc.
"Takt" is "stroke" or "beat". Hence the 4T or 2T in european cans.
