I have owned this Burb since new. First 700 miles on factory fill, then M1 5W-30 up to 4607 miles and then this run on Redline, I don't drive this vehicle much. The interval is from April 03 to December 03. This vehicle has now Castrol Syntec 0w30 (US made) installed.

Terry is the only guy that can really interpret RL so I can't add anything. I'll say this, RL has insane amounts on Moly and I don't know why. It looks like it's never used and only causes more corrosion.

Hmmmm ... I thought moly is inert and causes no corrosion. There are opinions that these levels of moly are needed to actually be effective as a borderline lubricant.

Now we'll add a third opinion that the chem guys can agree or disagree.

Moly Disulfide (MoS2) is possibly corrosive under high humidity conditions and is a solid. Moly Dithiocarbamate (MoDTC) is oil soluble and is not corrosive.

Can i get a gold star now?

ferb!

Jumping around brands doesn't help. Firm believer that the 2nd UOA on one brand/weight is more important and needed before making a judgement call.

But, I'd still expect better from this boutique oil. I'll continue to use their gear oils, but their motor oils, unless vehicles have turbo, doesn't impress me; Neither does GM engineering.

Ferb gets a gold star and is correct on the chemistry in question.

This is a good showing for a low- mileage engine still breakin-in. Fe is lower than I would have expected.

The recommendation to use and analyze an oil for three drain intervals is a good one.

QUite honestly, I was very happy with these results. CU is high, but actually not out of line for these engines. Jumping around on oils is something I'd like to avoid too, but I haven't decided which oil I am going to stick with yet and have to use up soem of the stuff in my basement.

buster, I DO have Terry working with me. This lab report is inclusive Dyson package, which obviously I can't post here.

quadrun, just read my post a little above yours ... it explains it!!

Alex D, you need to have Terry work with you when it comes to RL.

Alex, how come you switched so soon? RL is or any oil for that matter you should stay with awhile. (I'm a hyprocrit

BTW, whats wrong with this report? It's not bad at all IMO.

buster, Only reason is that I was getting the Burb ready for winter storage. We really only drive our lincoln Mark VIII in the winter. The Vette and the Burb stay in storage and I didn't want to put it away with oil that had run already for most of the year.

I also agree, this report is really good for this engine.

I have another batch of RL (6 qts.) sitting in the basement and about 42 quarts of GC that need to go somewhere.
