As I understand Redline has to load it up with additives because their ester base oils are competing for available surfaces. Some esters do such a good job clinging to surfaces that they crowd out AW addtives like moly and ZDDP. Redline is kind of old fashioned chemistry, but the R&D for something new isn't cheap.

I doubt any oil company rests on their laurels and says their product is good enough. Why do you believe it to be old fashioned chemistry?

Good question

SM oils in the -20 and -30 viscosities are limited to a range between 600-800 Phosphorous.
Pre-SM oils were 1000P max.
SG oils were 1200P. I think 1200-1400P is the sweet spot, although there are some race oils that are higher.

Phosphorous can go up to 1800 before its incremental wear protection effect stops increasing, and corrosion can start to be an issue.

according to dave at redline all of there oils have 950 ppm of moly on them.and their formulations are far from old fasion...i don't care whats in the voa's i do know whatand trust dave at redline tells me..thats good enough for me.

Redline seems to like their customers by their phone reponses.

In the F150 this is my favorite oil yet. I plan to do a UOA on this OC which will have quite a bit of towing on it, Red Line 5W-20 and 0W-30 has been in the engine for about 30K so far...should be nice and settled in.

I don't think I've seen a single UOA posted for Red Line 0W-30.

Banned member StevieC ran three consecutive UOA of RL 0W-30 in his Hyundai Sante Fe back in 2009/2010 which I've seen. (They're very good with no oil shear).
I don't think he ever posted them but you can email him and I'm sure he'd send you a copy. Any trouble reaching Steve let me know.

I'd like to see some current UOAs (or VOAs) of Redline 0w-30, can you reach Steve for us?

Thanks
